Howdy – my name is Bradley Haworth, and I am one of several interns that was lucky enough to be selected to work on this project. I am a senior this year at Seattle University, and am studying Environmental Studies – more specifically, I study Ecosystems and Biology. Aside from working at this internship and being a student, I volunteer at the Woodland Park Zoo and have a strong passion for maintaining our earth’s steadily dwindling biodiversity of fauna. And when I’m not doing any of these things, you could probably find me drinking a good local beer, playing the piano, pretending like I am good at singing, or any combination of the three.
What’s your dream destination and why?
My dream destination has been and always will be Seattle and the Pacific Northwest. I think it’s the nation’s best-kept secret in terms of beauty and especially in terms of climate (our summers here are particularly incomparable). But If I had to choose an alternative location I would probably choose Salzburg, Austria because The Sound of Music is my jam.
What are your top three favorite trips you’ve been on?
- Touring the entire country of Ireland
- Backpacking in Montana
- College – I consider the 4 years I’ve spent at university to be one long, incredible, ongoing trip
Do you have any siblings? Pets?
I have a twin brother and a dog brother.
What are you studying in school?
Environmental Studies/Ecosystems and Biology
What is your favorite cereal?
Lucky Charms
Where would you like to live if you could leave your life in Seattle for a while?
I would love to live in Ireland for a time, but honestly I would take anywhere in Europe that I could get my hands on.
What did you want to be growing up?
The spectrum of things I wanted to be when I was a child is broad. As a kid I used to see myself being anything from a lawyer to a scuba instructor to a professional book-reader. When I was in kindergarten, I even thought I wanted to be a priest for no apparent reason other than the fact that they get to wear giant robes in public.
What is your favorite memory of your backyard?
The first time that I had ever successfully made an Egg in the Basket by myself, I brought it to my backyard and ate it while watching the world wake up behind my house. For whatever reason that memory has stuck with me.
What is your favorite genre of movie? Favorite movie?
Any movie that isn’t mindless and makes me feel something substantial is okay by me. Hands down my favorite movies of all time are The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
If you could have lunch with one person in the world, who would it be and why?
I would like to have lunch with my grandparents on my mother’s side – my grandmother died before I was born and my grandfather died when I was too young to really be cognizant of his existence. I would love to get to know what they were like firsthand rather than hearing about it from family.
