Vinay – About Me

Hi, my name is Vinay, and I am going into 9th grade at Seattle Academy. I was born and raised in Seattle, and I have come to love how much nature there is in our surroundings.

I love being outside. When I was seven years old, my family moved to Beijing, China, for two years. When we arrived there, I immediately noticed a stark difference from Seattle. The colors are different, the air feels different, and everything feels bigger. On some days, the pollution was bad, and I couldn’t see more than a few blocks from the window of our apartment. However, there were days the skies would clear up, and you would get a nice look at the view of the city. Even though it was so different from the mountain views at home, It was incredible to look at. The city skyline was filled with tall skyscrapers and amazing architecture. When we would take a vacation and go back to Seattle for a week or two, I would enjoy the fantastic fresh air, the water, and the greenery even more than before. Although my experience in Beijing could have been better in some ways, I really enjoyed making new friends I can visit all over the world and finding new hobbies, like Kung Fu!

My favorite activities are swimming, skiing, video gaming, and recently, running. I love to do all of these activities with my friends. I value friendships and connections with others. I believe almost anything can be more fun and enjoyable with your friends. I have gotten to know people really well while doing something that we both love. Currently, in quarantine, I have connected with a lot of people through my online classes and video games. Although these are fun, I can’t wait until things open up more, and everyone can see each other in person.
